WOMEN IN LITERACY GRANTS. On July 3, Laubach Literacy announced that 10 organizations willshare a total of $60,000 in grants from Women in Literacy/USA (WIL/USA). WIL/USA gives grants each year to community-based organizationsthat integrate literacy instruction with participatory problem-solvingapproaches that enable women to make lasting social and economic changesfor themselves, their families and their communities. Grants of $6,000 each were awarded to: Refugee Women'sAlliance of Seattle, Wash.; Literacy Volunteers of Cibola County,Grants, N.M.; International Institute of Rhode Island Rhode Island, island, United StatesRhode Island,island, 15 mi (24 km) long and 5 mi (8 km) wide, S R.I., at the entrance to Narragansett Bay.
