VSA Arts Institute. The VSA VSA(in New Zealand) Voluntary Service Abroad (Very Special Arts) Arts Institute is an intensiveprofessional development offering facilitated by VSA arts VSA arts is an international nonprofit organization founded in 1974 by Ambassador Jean Kennedy Smith. It was originally called Very Special Arts. Although VSA no longer explicitly acts as an acronym, the three letters of the name are intended to represent "Vision of an inclusive staff andconsulting professionals who present on current practice and theory inthe fields of arts, education and disability. The Institute featurescore sessions, guest speakers and panel presentations; workshopsoffering hands-on skill-building opportunities; and open art studiofacilitates by master artists; daily reflective-study groups, to developprofessional action plans; and private consultation with faculty. TheInstitute is a unique opportunity for practitioners at all levels,including teaching artists, educators, arts administrators and educationadministrators.
