Volunteers will train at Oahu CC. HONOLULU Honolulu(hŏn'əl`l, hōnō–), city (1990 pop. (AP) -- The Hawaii Host Committee for the Asia-PacificEconomic Cooperation has selected an Oahu community college to trainvolunteers and workers for November's conference in Honolulu. The committee said Kapiolani Community College is to be responsiblefor training those who will be interacting with delegates and attendeesof the APEC 2011 Leaders' Week. More than 20,000 are expected toattend, including leaders of the 21 APEC economies, ministers, businessleaders and media. About 1,200 volunteers are needed for roles such as greeting Greeting is a way for humans[1] to intentionally communicate awareness of each other's presence, to show attention to, and/or to affirm or suggest a type of relationship or social status between individuals or groups of people coming in contact with guestsat the airport and escorting them on shuttles. Volunteers are to betrained in areas including customer service and Hawaiian culture.
